Comment prononcer le TH en anglais ?

Voici les deux façons de prononciation du digraphe ‘th’ en anglais.

La prononciation du digraphe th /θ/ est non-voisée : exemple – think /θɪŋk/

La prononciation du digraphe th /ð/ est voisée : exemple – this /ðɪs/

Mais comment prononcer le TH en anglais et comment savoir la différence entre les deux prononciations ?

Alors, si vous regardez ce tableau, vous allez voir que le son non-voisé /θ/ est beaucoup plus courant dans les mots de contenu, et que le son voisé /ð/ est beaucoup plus courant dans les mots de grammaire, et même s’il y a très peu de paires minimales, ces deux sons sont des phonèmes clairement distincts.

La prononciation de ‹ th › est non-voisée principalement dans :

  • les verbes, noms, adjectifs et préposition en th- ;
  • les noms en -th.

La prononciation du digraphe th /θ/ – non-voisée

Pour former le son, ouvrez les lèvres un peu, mettez le bout de la langue entre vos dents et attrapez-le ; mais doucement ! Ensuite, en gardant votre langue en place, relâchez un peu d’air “NON-VOISÉ” ….. alors, essayez : th th th th

La prononciation de ‹ th › est voisée principalement dans :

  • les articles, pronoms, adverbes et conjonctions en th- ;
  • les mots en -ther.

La prononciation de th /ð/ – voisée

Pour former le son, ouvrez les lèvres un peu, mettez le bout de la langue entre vos dents et attrapez-le ; mais doucement !

Ensuite relâchez un peu d’air “VOISÉ” et retirez votre langue

de vos dents en même temps ….. alors, essayez : the the the the

  • Au milieu : although – another – either – neither – other – together – whether
  • À la fin du mot : with (also /wɪθ/)

Irregular plurals of words ending in /θ/, as /ðz/

  • baths – mouths – paths – youths
